GREENVILLE (The Danville Bee) April 7. 1972 - Neil Castles, after 14 years of trying, won last Saturday's 100-mile Grand National East race at Greenville, S.C. Castles, who started second in a 30-car field, finished in photo fashion with the Ford of Elmo Langley. Castles, who currently ranks third in Grand N a t i o n al East standings, picked up $1,300 for his win. He drove a 1971 Dodge Danville 's Wendell Scott was 10th; Bobby Fleming, 13th; and Pee Wee Wentz, 16th. GREENVILLE (The Gastonia Gazette) April 1, 1972 - The Grand National East series resumes tonight in Greenville. S.C., with the running of a 200-lap, 100-mile event at Greenville-Pickens Speedway. The race, with a mixed field of Grand National and Grand American cars, will be high lighted by the appearance of such names as David Pearson, L e e Roy Yarbrough, Buck Baker, Tiny Lund, Jim Paschal and James Hylton.

Pearson, a three-time GN champ who won the GN East opener earlier this season at Jacksonville, Fla., will drive a 1972 Camaro owned by Shelby's
Toy Bolton. Yarbrough will be in Bill Seifert's 1971 Ford while Baker will handle a 1972 Firebird. The winner will earn $1,000 of a $10,000 purse.
